Students in a combined second and third grade class at Bremerton’s View Ridge Elementary school are literally walking their way to a healthier tomorrow thanks to the efforts of their teacher Ms. Sandy Trudel.
Ms. Trudel recently acquired pedometers for each student and introduced them to a year-long project that combines physical fitness with math and analysis. This initiative supports new research indicating the more the body works, the more the brain is stimulated.
The students wear their pedometers all day at school, increasing awareness of their physical activity. Sandy hopes the program will inspire them to a lifelong awareness of fitness both mentally and physically.
We salute Ms. Trudel for her creative physical and mental fitness program as we honor her with the latest Healthy Tomorrow award.
